Skywell ET5 Electric SUV Launched in Nepal: Boasts 620 km Range (NEDC) on Single Charge

Announced during the NADA Auto Show 2023, the Skywell ET5 Electric SUV has finally made its debut in the Nepalese market. Priced at Rs 1.09 Crore, the Skywell ET5 is a large-size electric SUV. Additionally, during the launch event, the company handed over 9 units of the ET5 to the first customers. Kailash Babu Gelal, Managing Director of G Motors, says the Skywell ET5 will appeal to consumers who want a premium electric SUV without sacrificing high-level performance.

Skywell New Energy Automobile Group was established in 2011, initially focusing on the production and sale of buses of various sizes. However, it wasn't until 2020 that the company expanded into the passenger car market with the introduction of the ET5 Electric SUV. The Chinese EV brand now has a presence in more than 48 countries including Germany, Israel, Turkey and Russia.Skywell ET5: Battery, Motor and RangeThe ET5 delivers a charge of 620 km (NEDC) on a single charge making it the highest-range EV in Nepal, claims the company. The electric SUV gets an 85.9 kWh battery pack and a front-mounted electric motor to produce 150 kW and 320 Nm of torque. Similarly, it goes from 0-100 km/h under 7.9 seconds. The ET5 can be charged up to 80% in just half an hour using a fast charger.Skywell ET5: Dimensions and SuspensionThe Skywell ET5 dimensions are 4698 x 1908 x 1696mm and a generous wheelbase of 2800mm. The minimum ground clearance stands at 159mm while the bootspace is 467 litres and can be expanded up to 1141 litres. MacPherson struts handle suspension duties on the front and multi-link on the rear. Similarly, braking duties are taken care of by all-wheel disc brakes, with ventilated discs on the front.Skywell ET5: Safety

Despite emphasizing safety features, the Skywell ET5 has faced considerable controversy following its initial poor performance in the 2021 C-NCAP assessment. Nonetheless, according to company representatives, the latest model of the ET5 has achieved a five-star rating in the most recent C-NCAP evaluation.

In terms of safety, the Skywell ET5 comes loaded with four Airbags, ABS with EBD, a Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Front and Rear Parking Sensors, a Rearview Camera, Hill Start Assist Control, Hill Descent Control, Auto Hold, and Cruise Control System, etc. Moreover, it also gets certain ADAS features.Skywell ET5: FeaturesThe ET5 electric SUV receives an electrically adjustable driver seat, a keyless entry system, front seats with heating and ventilation, a powered tailgate, and a multimedia system with a 12.8-inch infotainment system. The equipment list also includes modern high-beam laser headlights, a panoramic roof and fully folding seats patented by the brand for healthy sleep.G Motors has been selling various brand vehicles in the Nepali market as a local dealer for various brands.
